IN VITRO ACID EXPOSURE REPORT – AUGUST 2002.
In monogastic herbivores such as the horse, yeast based probiotics (YBP) feed additives must survive exposure to acid digestion in the stomach if they are to pass through to the caecum (the site of action) in an active state.. This is not the case in ruminants where the site of action (rumen) is anterior to the site of acid digestion.

The objective of this study was to determine the tolerance of YBP to acid conditions and still remain active.
