Leaf-based Routing Mechanism for Low-Power and Lossy Networks
Unlike existing solutions, our invention provides a “Leaf-Based” mechanism for establishing the Downward routes in Low-Power and Lossy Networks (LLNs) that seeks to provide a novel, scalable and efficient routing solution for LLNs, which are the backbone of the Internet of Things (IoT). In this mechanism, a router needs only to maintain the routing state of its sub-network’s leaf nodes in its memory, rather than the whole group of nodes as is the case in the current standardized protocol. This will open up a door to new applications/services that cannot by facilitated by existing standards and solutions.
