  An exploratory, qualitative study into the key decision-making processes associated with a firm’s international strategy; to investigate the interrelationships between firms’ chosen Degree of Involvement in relation to the Chinese environment and their choice of strategic competitive approach to this market:
1) The decision to participate in a particular market. From the perspective of strategic management theory it can be argued that subsequent to these decisions will be decisions on how to enter the chosen markets.
2) The impact of emerging market activity from high development (i.e. China) to low development (i.e. Africa) on the developed UK and USA markets
