The Centre for Literature and Writing (CLAW) is interested in the wider role of literature in the 21st century. Research is focused on promoting the enduring importance of literature to contemporary culture. Literary interests range from the early 19th century to the present day.
The Scottish Centre for the Book (SCOB) is about more than books, more than Scotland and more than history. Established in 1995, it acts as a focus for research and knowledge transfer in publishing, the material book and print culture. Our aim is to enhance and promote the study of print culture in all its forms.
Research in the Centre for Media and Culture includes the areas of film and television and information society.
The Art & Design Research Centre comprises academics and practitioners with expertise in a range of art and design areas: 3D design, making and digital crafts; lighting design, exhibition design, and design for heritage and urbanism; advertising, graphic design and graphic advocacy; and film and photography.
The Applied Music Research Centre is made up of academics and research students writing, performing and writing about music. They also come up with the technology to make the music happen and send it out into the world.
