  This AHRC-funded project aimed to develop a formal UK-wide network of Library and Information Science (LIS) researchers. A key goal of the project was to build capacity and capability in the development and implementation of innovative methods and techniques in undertaking LIS research.

A series of training events for LIS researchers took place in 2011 and 2012. These workshops explored the scope of LIS and related research, and the range of methods appropriate to research in the domain. The DREaM project launch conference -Out of the comfort zone - took place at the British Library Conference Centre, London, in July 2011.

DREaM 2 (first of the three skills building workshops) took place at Craighouse Campus in October 2011.  The workshop included expert introductions to ethnography, social network analysis, discourse analysis and research ethics.

DREaM 3 was held at the British Library Conference Centre on 30th January 2012 and included  sessions on user Involvement, techniques from history, webometrics and research and policy.

DREaM 4 workshop, on 25th April 2012, in Edinburgh, included sessions on horizon scanning, repertory grids, data mining and research impact.

DREaM 5 closing conference at the British Library in London on 9th July, celebrated the outcomes of the DREaM project:
a network of Library and Information Science researchers and practitioners;skills development through the three methodologies workshops;ways and contacts to increase the impact of LIS research.Dr Ben Goldacre closed the conference with a keynote and award presentation.
