Living in Edinburgh
Studying at Edinburgh Napier isn’t just about what you learn in the classroom. It’s about what you learn about yourself, who you connect with and the experiences you have living in Edinburgh.
In 2014, Edinburgh was voted the best UK city for the second year in a row by the Daily Telegraph. It’s easy to understand why. It’s one of the world’s most beautiful cities, renowned for its history and culture, and proud of its UNESCO World Heritage site status. It’s also home to more than 100,000 students and boasts the world’s largest arts festival every summer.
As a student here, you can take part in a buzzing nightlife and chill by day in one of the city’s numerous parks. From January to December, there's always something going on, from Burns Night celebrations at the start of the year to the world-famous Hogmanay celebrations at the end.
In between, there are festivals and sports events aplenty, including the Six Nations rugby at Murrayfield, when the whole city comes alive.
If food and drink is your passion, there are restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets, while Edinburgh’s bar scene is constantly evolving.
The city is also a great size. You’ll find you can walk nearly everywhere and the number of people cycling is growing as the city continues to invest in cycle paths and related facilities. If you do have to travel that little bit further, there is an excellent local bus service that in 2014 was complemented by a state-of-the-art tram system.
