Organised by the University’s Student Futures team in partnership with the MBA programme team and The Business School, the MBA Employability Summit was held at Craiglockhart campus for the first time yesterday (28 Feb 2024).

The summit has been developed to offer MBA students the opportunity to learn about the UK graduate recruitment market and how to successfully navigate it, as well as the importance of building effective networks. It will also introduce them to some of the support and resources available to help them find and secure graduate roles.

Hosted by Head of Student Futures, Adam Watling, the event – which was tailored specifically for international MBA students studying at Edinburgh Napier – welcomed a host of key speakers and panel members.

Guest speakers included Dhruv Krishnaraj, Co-Founder & Director of Student Circus and Frazer Lang, CEO of Scottish Africa Business Association.

A panel of Edinburgh Napier alumni, including Justine Ehimen, Project Manager for Passion4Fusion, Arpit Gupta, Senior Customer Success Advocate & Product Manager at Coastr, Harshitha Chiniwalar, Project Claims Coordinator at Unilever and Olamide Oladipupo, Project Support Officer at 730Consults, also returned to the University to share their thoughts on their own journey of securing graduate employment.Close-up crowd shout at Edinburgh Napier's MBA Summit

Members of the University’s alumni team, Bright Red Triangle – Edinburgh Napier’s enterprise hub – Student Circus and the wider Student Futures team were also present on the day.

Given the success of the event, it is hoped that it could become an annual activity for Edinburgh Napier’s on-campus MBA students, with the potential to be expanded to include international students from across the Business School’s postgraduate portfolio.

Adam Watling, Head of Student Futures, said: “We are delighted to be involved in the inaugural MBA Employability Summit, and hope it becomes a key event in our university calendar. It further demonstrates ENU commitment to providing our students and graduates with access to labour market insights and opportunities.

“Student Futures is a team of employability professionals focused on creating a space for our MBA cohort to engage with external industry connections through events, networking and careers coaching opportunities and we believe the Summit will further create an environment for our students and graduates to flourish.”

Professor Sukanlaya Sawang, Head of Management Department in Edinburgh Napier’s Business School, said: “I am proud to endorse the MBA EmployabilityThe alumni panel at Edinburgh Napier's MBA Summit Summit, a collaborative effort between Student Futures, the MBA programme team, and The Business School. This innovative event addresses the unique challenges international students encounter when entering the UK job market. By providing tailored support and valuable insights into UK recruitment processes, we empower our students to succeed locally and globally, aligning with Edinburgh Napier's strategic objectives.”
