Outreach and events

2017 will see Edinburgh Napier University commemorate two significant dates in the history of its Estate:

  • The 400th anniversary of the death of John Napier, best known for his invention of logarithms, whose birthplace the 16th Century Medieval Tower House is located at the heart of our Merchiston Campus.
  • The centenary of the date when the war poets Wilfred Owen and Siegfried Sassoon famously met at historic Craiglockhart in 1917, when it was requisitioned as a military hospital for officers suffering from shell shock during the First World War.

The University is commemorating these dates through a series of public events which we hope will capture the imagination of our local and international communities over the course of the year.
