Research Fellow

Biography

I am a Research Fellow in Health Data Science at Edinburgh Napier University and the Scottish Centre for Administrative Data Science.

My research interests are in using large datasets collected routinely by public bodies for studies to benefit public health. I am interested in areas of mental health, childhood adversity, end of life care, suicide prevention, alcohol & drug use.

I am also interested in using population data research to inform policy, and in educating the public about how their data are used by public agencies and researchers.

My current projects include investigating the increase of home deaths since the Covid-19 pandemic in Scotland, and a study of mental health and substance use contacts for people released from prison in Scotland (RELEASE). I have previously worked on projects looking at childhood adversity and mental health admission patterns prior to young person suicide (CHASE), and on the 2015-2020 evaluation of the Glasgow Improving Cancer Journeys (ICJ).
