Biography

Kay Penny is a Lecturer in the School of Management with expertise in research methods, survey design and statistics. Kay is also Programme Leader for the MSc Management Practice and the PG Dip Practice of Management in the Edinburgh Institute. These programmes of study include practice based learning modules designed to enable professional participants to apply their learning in their workplace or organisation. Kay has many years teaching experience and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society. Kay regularly publishes articles in academic journals and presents papers at international conferences. Her research interests include survey methods; applied statistics including educational, health and nursing research; data mining, methods for dealing with missing data; student progression and e-learning. Kay currently holds the post of Statistical Editor for the Journal of Clinical Nursing. Kay has developed and delivered continuing professional development courses on statistics and survey methods for external organisations, and undertakes consultancies providing advice on study design and statistical methods, undertaking analysis of data, and providing interpretation of the findings.
