Biography

Sharif Alaydi joined Edinburgh Napier University (The Business School) in September 2021 as a Lecturer in Strategy. He holds a PhD degree in Management (International Business and Entrepreneurship) from the University of Glasgow, a MSc degree in International Business and Management with Distinction from the University of Central Lancashire, and a BA (Hons) degree in Business Administration with 1st class from Al-Azhar University - Gaza.

Sharif has over seven years of work experience in higher education teaching and four years in international business, entrepreneurship and strategy research. Before joining The Business School, he worked nearly six months as a lecturer in business and management at Essex Business School, and three years as a graduate teaching assistant and a research assistant at University of Glasgow (Adam Smith Business School). Sharif also worked nearly four years a lecturer in business and management at Al-Azhar University-Gaza.

Sharif is interested in interdisciplinary research that integrates inescapable complexities inherent in any notion of ‘opportunity’ in order to understand entrepreneurial processes and their outcomes, which are shaped by the interplay of individuals/firms (local and international), their strategies and the ‘opportunities’ they pursue, particularly within uncertain contexts and developing countries. This contributes largely to our deep understanding of entrepreneurial phenomena through investigating entrepreneurship-related research issues and developing more solid knowledge about entrepreneurship, strategy and international business.
