Biography

Dr. Shemroy Roberts (Shem), originally from the multi-island Caribbean state of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, is a highly accomplished researcher and educator with a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the fields of Hospitality, Tourism, and Festivals and Events. Some of his research interests include heritage tourism, geo-tourism, gastronomy tourism, tourism policy and development, management, museums, marketing, visitor experience, visitor engagement, and netnography.

Dr. Roberts earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Tourism Studies from Edinburgh Napier University in 2023, building upon his prior qualifications, including a Master of Science in International Tourism Marketing from Edinburgh Napier University and a Bachelor of Science in Management Studies (Tourism and Hospitality Management) from The University of the West Indies. He also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Business and Management Research Methods.

Currently serving as an Associate Lecturer at Edinburgh Napier University since 2020, Dr. Roberts is actively involved in teaching a range of modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He is also a Tutor in Marketing, Hospitality, Tourism, Festivals and Events, and Business Management at Edinburgh Napier University International College.

In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Dr. Roberts contributes to academic institutions globally, holding the position of Course Lead and Research Supervisor at the University of the West Indies Global Campus. He also holds the position of Assistant Chief Examiner at the Caribbean Examinations Council, where he plays a crucial role in generating examination material and curriculum development.

Dr. Roberts has participated in and led several Public Engagement projects and is an active member of various professional organizations, including the Nordic Museum Research Network, the Association for Netnographic Research, and the Tourism Research Centre at Edinburgh Napier University. Dr. Roberts has also presented at several international conferences, receiving the Association for Tourism in Higher Education Annual Research Best Doctoral Poster Presentation Award 2021, NETNOCON2023 PhD scholarship award, and the Young Scientist/New Scholar award at the ICOT2023 Annual Conference.

In addition to his academic pursuits, Dr. Roberts is passionate about social issues, which is evident in his participation and contribution to the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee at Edinburgh Napier University. His hobbies and interests include classical music, cooking, baking, reading, traveling, and socializing with friends, family, and people from different cultures.
