Institute for Sustainable Construction (ISC)
Comprising several of Scotland’s leading built environment applied research centres, the Institute works with key organisations across the construction industry. ISC has specialist expertise in developing and supporting innovative Building Technologies & Product Innovation and is the lead partner in the Low Carbon Building Technologies Gateway.
Our expertise includes low-carbon built environment solutions, energy efficient designs, geotechnics, sustainable building performance and micro-renewable technologi es; as well as our world-leading research and consultancy in building acoustics, vibration and construction technical design. In addition, our expert centres also include applied research and consultancy services for regeneration, sustainable communities and new innovative construction product development.
Our expert staff serve on national and international standards committees and our Building Performance Centre contributed to the development of innovative regulatory frameworks such as Robust Details, winner of the Queen's Anniversary Prize 2009.
You will be able to tap into our research, consultancy and knowledge transfer expertise. We can
also offer you access to our unique laboratory facilities where complete build-prototypes of up to
three stories tall can be fully tested. Our current clients include industry and government
departments across the UK, Europe, Middle East, Australasia and North America.

We are delighted to announce the winners of the ISC Book Token competition which took place during the Edinburgh International Science Festival, 3 – 17 April 2010.
