  This poster depicts some main findings from a national linked data study of hospital and death records for those young people who have died by suicide. The study summarised in-patient admissions related to childhood adversity and mental health conditions from cradle to grave.

Using a control group, the study aimed to assess which pattern of admissions posed the greatest association with later suicide. Amongst the many findings, perhaps the most striking was that there was strong evidence that hospital admissions for childhood adversity AND mental health (in any order) produced the highest odds of later young person suicide - this was greater than for mental health admissions only.
