The motivations, identities, and environmental sensibilities of contemporary e-mountain bike users
During an era of rapid technological improvement, the demand for e-mountain biking is growing. Furthermore, an older demographic of rider participates in e-mountain biking in comparison to traditional mountain biking. This chapter explores the individuals behind the e-mountain bikes, why they ride, and their perceptions of environmental responsibility. In particular, focus is given to the conflict that has been reported in shared spaces, but also how education, good communication, and positive land management can serve to reduce this. In addition, attention turns to the contributions that the e-mountain bike could make to the ‘green movement’ at personal, industrial, and governmental levels.
