CSIC Mass Timber Commercialisaton
Edinburgh Napier University to investigate and undertake the following tasks:
• Collate, analyse and summarise their research base on mass timber and its viability as a construction technique for the UK construction industry.
• Update figures around material costs, demand and usage, current market conditions, market share for residential, commercial, education etc.,
• Upon validating the feasibility of fabricating panels from either home-grown or imported timber, research the feasibility of a mass timber manufacturing facility in Scotland through assessment of the various potential benefits detailed above.
• If viable, act as academic lead for ‘Mass Timber Alliance’ to include raw timber suppliers, designers/engineers and contractors to create an enterprise of mutual benefit to all, and therefore the Scottish construction industry and economy.
