  This project would facilitate a feasibility study and energy survey for 4 organisations on Orkney, to explore the possibilities of transferring to a low carbon hydrogen fuelled energy system. The overall outcome would be 4 diverse companies offering ground-breaking products/services, using ‘green’, locally produced hydrogen. It is believed that all four of these projects, if developed and implemented are world firsts.

Hydrogen technologies are currently being developed and deployed across a wide range of applications, and the next decade will see a significant increase in hydrogen fuel availability. Many large organisations are already looking at the transition, however, the benefits and fuel switching options for smaller businesses have yet to be evaluated. The businesses selected for this scheme are representative of many smaller / craft businesses across the Highlands and Islands Region, hence the replicability potential of this work is high.
