Ly Nguyen, MBA with Leadership Practice

“Edinburgh Napier stands out because of its support for international students”

Edinburgh Napier University has a wide range of academic courses but it is not only about theory – everything can also be linked to practice. Edinburgh Napier create an excellent study environment that encourages me. They also hold lots of workshops and events that each student undoubtedly needs. Students can talk to prospective employers at My Future Career festivals.

Edinburgh Napier stands out because of its support for international students. Initially, I was struggling to find accommodation or I found it difficult when I have started my coursework. But there are always staff or lecturers to help and give me information and instruction.

“The course has a work placement which will give me an opportunity to experience a different working environment”

There are several reasons why I wanted to study in the United Kingdom (UK). Firstly, its educational system is famous worldwide and holder of the degrees are recognized internationally. Secondly, the UK in general and Scotland in particular is a historical and cultural country. It also has many multicultural cities that I would like to learn more about. Thirdly, I wanted to improve my English skills. Also, the tuition fees are affordable and split into installments for two years.

The MBA with Leadership Practice course is designed to not only teach me academic theory but practical skills as well. It is for young entrepreneurs and for people who want to acquire higher-order managerial skills to develop their career quickly. The course has a work placement which will give me an opportunity to experience a different working environment from my home country.

“From the hills to the beaches I find it lively, safe and peaceful”

I remember how exciting my first steps ever in Scotland from Edinburgh Airport were. I was overwhelmed by Edinburgh Castle, the historical centre and how green it is. I only have to take one bus from my flat to the beach so I can get away from the city easily. From the hills to the beaches I find it lively, safe and peaceful.

However, initially it seems a bit difficult to adapt to the weather, people or culture. They are challenges but that means I have the chance to explore new things and get more valuable experiences. At the end of the day, I manage to study, work and enjoy living here.

“The MBA course will allow me to attain professional standing and credibility”

When I come back to Vietnam, I will seek a senior management position in business and try to kick off my start up. The MBA course will allow me to attain professional standing and credibility. The subjects will help me analyse the environment and make strategic decisions so that I can build a high performance organisation. Additionally, I will be more confident in public and be able to influence others.
