Please note that from 26 July 2026, the City of Edinburgh Council will introduce a visitor levy of 5% on the cost of paid overnight accommodation within the city boundary. This is a mandatory local charge introduced by the council and applies to all guests - including international visitors - staying overnight in Edinburgh.
The levy will be calculated on the accommodation portion of the booking (excluding extras such as meals, beverages, parking, or other services) and is payable for a maximum of five consecutive nights. It is the responsibility of accommodation providers to collect this levy on behalf of the council, and therefore it will be added to your final group booking invoice and shown as a separate charge.
We appreciate your understanding that this levy is a statutory requirement, and the funds collected will support the enhancement of Edinburgh’s infrastructure, cultural heritage, and visitor experience, ensuring the city remains a world-class destination for guests from around the globe.
