our courses

Our Professional Diploma in Education (PGDE) courses are designed by teachers, for teachers. Specialise in Biology, Chemistry, English (from August 2022) Maths or Physics to become a secondary school teacher. Each course is accredited by the GTCS.

In line with current Scottish Government guidance, our next intake will start on campus next August.

    A one-year PGDE courses allow you to teach your specialist subject in secondary schools. You know your subject. We'll help you share it. 

    We know that the best teachers are confident, experienced and equipped to stand in front of their class from day one, so we'll give you the motivation, confidence and creativity to succeed.

    We’re known for providing personalised learning and links to industry, and putting theory into practice. 

    Our teaching courses are delivered by our School of Applied Sciences, which is unique among Scottish universities in providing the opportunity to gain a PgDE in a science subject from a School of Science. We provide academic rigour and practical experience by combining Masters-level study with classroom skills.
