Edinburgh Napier has today launched its first brand campaign that shines a spotlight on the University’s staff, students, alumni and ideas.

The Marketing & External Relations team at Edinburgh Napier worked with agency Creature London – “the home of intelligent misbehaviour” – on a campaign that clearly sets Edinburgh Napier apart from others in the sector. The goal was to ensure it wasn’t a typical university brand campaign that could be “The University of Anywhere” – it needed to be bold, challenging, energetic and showcase the University as the home of difference makers.

The campaign emphasises the impact being made by the ENU community – students, staff and alumni – in Scotland and around the world. It gives them the stage they deserve and highlights that whenever something remarkable happens, it Must Be Napier.

Case studies highlighted in the campaign include Dr Pavlos Papadopoulos, lecturer in Cybersecurity, founder of TrueDeploy, and winner of the “Outstanding Young Person in Cyber” at the Scottish Cyber Awards, and graduate Essi Aittasalo who founded Scotland’s first ever female ice hockey team and has worked for the International Olympic Committee.

The out-of-home element of the campaign will be seen across the Central Belt on billboards, posters and digital sites, while a hero film will appear on popular streaming platforms, with bespoke cuts for social media, including TikTok.

ENU’s Director of Marketing & External Relations Geoff Day said:

“Edinburgh Napier students, staff and the ideas we come up with really are doing extraordinary things. This campaign dramatises that, evidences it and emphasises it. We want everyone to know that every time something extraordinary happens somewhere, maybe in a small way, maybe in a grand way, but it Must Be Napier.”
