Each year Edinburgh Napier recognises notable alumni from the School of Arts and Creative Industries (SACI) through the SACI Alumni Hall of Fame.

These alumni have gone on to achieve excellence in their careers and have made significant contributions to their profession. This honour serves as a tribute to their creative talents and recognises their professional achievements.

Alumni Moray Callum, Jeanette MacIntyre and Keira (Kay) Farrell have been inducted into the Hall of Fame following a week of digital celebrations held on Edinburgh Napier Alumni’s social media channels.

A plaque representing each of 2021 inductees will be installed at Edinburgh Napier’s Merchiston campus signifying inclusion in the SACI Alumni Hall of Fame, joining the other alumni who have previously been inducted.

The University looks forward to welcoming Moray, Jeanette and Kay back on campus in the future to view their plaques and celebrate their SACI Alumni Hall of Fame inclusion in person.

A little bit more about this year’s inductees…

Moray Callum
BSc Industrial Design 1980

Moray Callum is one of the auto industry’s most influential design leaders. He has recently retired from his role as Vice President for Design at Ford Motor Company after spending 20 years at the multinational automaker.   Moray Callum

Moray’s career has taken him all over the world, from France to Italy, to Japan to USA. His leadership has seen the creation of some of the world’s most recognisable vehicles, such as two best-selling sportscars, Ford Mustang and Mazda MX5, and the Ford F-series, America’s best-selling vehicle. He also oversaw the return on an icon, the Ford Bronco.

“I am really honoured to be inducted into the SACI Alumni Hall of Fame. It is one thing to be recognised within your own community and environment, but when that recognition stretches further and includes your alma matter, it is even more special. When I chose to attend Edinburgh Napier many years ago, I had no idea that the education I would receive would help me truly achieve my dreams. That in itself is reward enough. This recognition is the icing on the cake.” - Moray Callum, Diploma Industrial Design 1980.

Jeanette MacIntyre
Diploma in Interior Design 1985

Jeanette MacIntyre has led the way in interior glass solutions since graduating from Edinburgh Napier in 1985 with a Diploma in Interior Design. She is now the Managing Director of Indeglas - one of the UK’s most advanced internal glass specialists. Jeanette MacIntyre

After finishing her studies at Edinburgh Napier, Jeanette set up her own interior design business with a friend from the University. She then joined Nelso, part of Tarmac Construction, as Design Manager. She held this role for six years before leaving to become a founder and shareholder in interiors contracting company, Zenith Contract Interiors. She negotiated a distributor agreement with the Danish glazed screen product DEKO, and soon after the company became DEKO Scotland.

Jeanette completed a management buyout in 2013 and re-branded the company as Indeglas in 2017 – the name reflecting their Danish design influences. Their clients have included Shepherd and Wedderburn, Brodies LLP, St Mary’s Church in Haddington, and numerous campus buildings at the University of Edinburgh and City of Glasgow College.

“I feel intensely proud to represent the School of Arts and Creative Industries at Edinburgh Napier in this way. I hope to fully credit the honour, supporting current and future students and by sharing the learning I have accumulated for the benefit of others.” - Jeanette MacIntyre, Diploma Interior Design 1985.

Keira (Kay) Farrell
MSc Publishing 2015

Kay Farrell is Assistant Publisher at award-winning publishing company, Sandstone Press. She edited Celestial Bodies by Jokha Alharthi which went on to win the International Booker Prize in 2019 - becoming the first book translated from Arabic to achieve this success.  Kay Farrell

Kay left a secure job in administration to embark on a publishing career, a risk that has paid dividends. Her first contact with Sandstone Press came through an internship she undertook as part of her publishing degree. After gaining experience through a graduate role, Kay re-joined the Scottish Highland-based publishing company a year later.

"I have really fond memories of my time at Edinburgh Napier, and being inducted into SACI Alumni Hall of Fame makes me feel like the university is proud to have had me, which is this lovely warm feeling. I hope that my inclusion might make people think a bit differently about retraining, as it can be very scary to risk a life you’ve built for yourself. But I thought it was well worth the risks.” - Keira (Kay) Farrell, MSc Publishing 2015.
