A new graduate from Edinburgh Napier University has been praised for the quality of his work investigating stabilised peat – after being named the winner of an annual award.
Jamie Coll has been selected as the winner of this year’s METERology prize, presented by the electric utility company on the recommendation of the University.
He was selected for his Honour’s Project, An Experimental Investigation on the Mechanical Behaviour of Stabilised Peat with Glacial Rock Flour – part of his Bachelor of Engineering with Honours, Civil Engineering.
Jamie collected his prize, along with his degree, at this summer’s graduation ceremonies at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh.
He said: “It’s been hard work, but I’ve really enjoyed studying at Napier and am proud of my achievements.
“Being awarded the METERology prize was a welcome surprise, and it was great to have the recognition of my honours project from the company.”
Judges praised Jamie’s project for standing out in terms of quality and relevance to his degree.
Brian Hunter, Managing Director of METERology Ltd said: “We have been supporting Edinburgh Napier student prizes since 2011 and every year we are blown away with the quality of the students and their projects.
“We have no doubt that this is just the start of a fantastic career for Jamie, and we wish him all the very best for the future.”
