Outstanding individuals are being sought to serve on Edinburgh Napier University's governing body, the University Court.

Lay Court membership represents a unique opportunity to help shape the work of one of Scotland's most ambitious and progressive universities, currently ranked the top modern university in Scotland*.

You will have a strong commitment to higher education and will bring significant experience of operating at a senior level in any business or organisation in the private, public or not-for-profit environments.

At the present time we are particularly seeking to recruit a convenor and further member to join Court’s Finance & Property Committee with the following experience:

  • For the convenor role, a recognised accounting qualification (Chartered, Certified or Cost and Management) and a track record in a senior leadership role at director or partner level in either a commercial environment or at a professional firm.  Following a handover period with the current incumbent, the successful candidate will take on the convenor role in August 2023.
  • For the second role candidates are sought who have a track record in commercial banking – either as a banking professional or with front line treasury management experience including relationship management with banks and other providers of finance.

The University is committed to achieving a diverse governing body and welcomes applications from all suitably experienced individuals, particularly those who would further enhance its diversity.  In view of Court’s current lay member gender balance, applications from women are particularly welcome.

These posts are part-time (around 12-15 working days per annum) voluntary opportunities for an initial term of 4 years.

Further information, including full role description and person specification, is available here.  To apply please send a full CV and supporting statement outlining your relevant experience and the contribution you would make to the University to:

Closing date: 14 November 2021
