University signs up alongside more than 70 UK higher education providers
Edinburgh Napier is proud to have signed up for the new sector-wide Quality Assurance Agency scheme for the quality enhancement of UK transnational education.
The scheme, commissioned by Universities UK and GuildHE , is a demonstration of our commitment to a high-quality UK-TNE experience.

Transnational education (TNE) gives students around the world the opportunity to study a degree awarded by Edinburgh Napier without leaving their home country.
The International Programmes team works closely with academic colleagues to support the development and delivery of transnational education (TNE) programmes in collaboration with partners around the world. Our most established partnerships in Hong Kong date back over 20 years and we now have around 3,000 students studying our degrees overseas.
The QE-TNE Scheme applies to all UK degree-awarding bodies on a voluntary basis and operates over the academic years 2021-22 to 2025-26. It is enhancement-led, informed by robust metrics, and has the student experience at its heart.
Fundamental to the new approach is collaboration between QAA and local higher education bodies to build and deepen mutual understanding, cooperation and trust.
One major host country/territory will normally be selected each year together with two others such as those that are emerging or developing, or those with smaller TNE numbers.
The countries participating in the QE-TNE programme in the next two years are:
- 2021-22: Egypt, Germany and United Arab Emirates
- 2022-23: Peoples’ Republic of China, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka
Edinburgh Napier joins more than 70 UK higher education providers who have chosen to participate in the QE-TNE Scheme, which will be officially launched at an online event on September 20.
