An Edinburgh Napier graduate has been crowned Young Journalist of the Year – twice.

Sarah Vesty scooped the accolade at the annual Scottish Newspaper Society Awards in Glasgow, weeks after winning the same title at her employer’s Trinity Mirror Excellence Awards in London.

Sarah, 24, who now works as a reporter at the Daily Record, was one of our 2013 BA (Hons) Journalism graduates.

She said: “I'm absolutely delighted to have won both awards in the last few months while working for the Daily Record.

“Working on national news is a challenging but rewarding career where every day is exciting and different.

“It wouldn't have been possible without my degree from Edinburgh Napier University which stood me in good stead for my career in journalism."
