More than 1,000 pupils from across the Lothians region have been getting an insight into life at Edinburgh Napier thanks to a series of events co-ordinated by the University’s UK Student Recruitment and Outreach team.Group of students walking into a lecture theatre.

The team has been busy devising a programme of events to showcase all facets of the University and the journey to it – from tips for applying and writing a personal statement to School-specific subject events.

Last Tuesday (10 June), the team welcomed more than 150 S6 pupils from Lasswade, Penicuik and Craigroyston on campus for a senior induction event.

The event covered a range of topics: from the Edinburgh Napier offering, to how to tackle a UCAS application and more.

The pupils were also treated to a guest panel from key University colleagues across various teams including ENSA, Student Wellbeing and Inclusion, Graduate Apprenticeships and Academic Skills.

Throughout the previous months, the team has also welcomed pupils from Tynecastle High School, Boroughmuir High School, Firrhill High School, St Columba’s High School, Lasswade High School, Penicuik High School, Craigroyston High School, St David’s High School, St Augustine’s High School, Broughton High School, George Watsons and George Heriots, St Margaret’s Academy, Leith High School, Currie High School, Holy Rood RC High School and Beeslack Community High School onto campus.

It’s been a packed schedule all with the view of breaking down barriers and giving the pupils a flavour of Edinburgh Napier.

Nicola Kennedy, Senior Outreach Officer – Schools, said: “It was fantastic to have so many S5-S6 pupils on to our campus in May and June to support our outreach and recruitment strategy. It is testament to the dedication and drive of the Schools Outreach team to ensure strong relationships with our key schools and provide exciting and engaging opportunities to visit our campuses. As the new cycle approaches, we have a number of outreach planned including our flagship project Explore ENU in October.”
