Nomination cites high-profile initiatives from #NapierNames to the Must Be Napier campaign
Edinburgh Napier University has been shortlisted for “Outstanding Marketing & Communications Team” at the THE Awards – the Oscars of the higher education sector.
The awards, split into 21 categories, recognise excellence across all aspects of university activity, from research to teaching, marketing to estates. More than 120 institutions submitted over 500 applications with 69 making the shortlist.
ENU’s successful citation praises the strategic transformation of marketing and communications made since 2019, including the clear brand value proposition and consistent visual identity that was developed, the #NapierNames campaign when in-person graduations were not possible, the Napier Graduate pub, and the huge success of the Must Be Napier campaign that won the prestigious Drum Award for Brand Campaign of the Year.
Geoff Day, Director of Marketing & External Relations, said: “It is a huge honour to be highlighted this way. This is recognition for a multi-channel campaign that was delivered by focused, results-driven collaboration across marketing, communications, creative and alumni teams. With our usual grit, graft and gumption we have achieved a level of brand maturity well beyond our young years in this space. It is another example of how our community is our greatest strength.”
This year marks the first time the THE Awards ceremony will take place in Scotland when the winners are announced at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) on 13 November.
THE editor Chris Havergal said that “at a time of unprecedented challenge for higher education, the THE Awards enter their third decade as a steady and staunch reminder of the exceptional work that continues to take place across the UK and Ireland every day, on campuses and beyond”.
“That we received well over 500 entries for this year’s awards is a sure sign that the sector’s commitment to transforming lives for the better is undimmed. We offer our sincere congratulations to all those institutions and individuals shortlisted – it really is an achievement to have reached this stage in a very competitive year.”
ENU last won a THE Award in 2023 when Professor Bill Buchanan won Most Innovative Teacher of the Year.
