The Challenging Gender Balance projects are funded by Skills Development Scotland.

We research gender imbalance in computing subjects (and more widely across Science Technology, Engineering and Maths). Through extensive research, in conjunction with colleagues at the University of Stirling and ada.scot, we have encapsulated rules for running successful gender-specific events, in particular where role models feature. This is called the Participant-Centred Framework.

The framework focuses on how to run activity with participants in an inclusive environment with a focus on individual experiences and needs. Our Women into Tech project (Women into Tech - inspiring women studying and working in tech (napier.ac.uk)) used the Participant Centred Framework to connect women across higher education and the workplace.
