Our highly practical courses are aimed at adults new to using music software and those who dabble and are interested in learning more focused approaches to music creation and production. Courses delivered throughout the year include Ableton Live, Garageband and Logic Pro. This course explores music production through a series of project-based learning tasks.
Logic Pro
You will learn how to use Logic Pro, industry-standard software, to create original tracks and remixes and will develop a solid understanding of workflows and processes associated with music production. The projects explored are adaptable to almost any music software and support can be provided for learners who wish to use their own software at home between classes.
What will I learn?
The course is taught using a flipped classroom methodology, where learners engage with preparative online activities and then consolidate their learning through completing the project tasks in class. A Moodle Community virtual learning environment supports students' learning through interaction with tutors, participants and online resources, and through sharing their own work and critiquing the work of others.
Each week, you'll receive access to a series of online preparatory materials to introduce projects and music production concepts. In the initial session you will be introduced to the software. All other classes will provide the time to develop your knowledge of the software through project-based learning, where the preparatory materials will be contextualised and you will be given time to collaborate and share your work. Following these workshop classes, you will be required to consolidate your learning by sharing your work online for feedback from the tutor and peers.
Course dates and duration
The course runs for seven weeks on Tuesday evenings in the music department at Edinburgh Napier University. The first class is two-hours long. All other classes are three hours long.

- Tuesday 14th April (2 Hours)
- Tuesday 21st April to Tuesday 26th May (3 Hours per class)
Delivery mode
Classes run on Tuesday evenings in the music department at Edinburgh Napier University's Merchiston campus.
Cost
The fee is £300 per course.
