Supporting Education: Hi-Spec Learning Environments

In 2022, the university welcomed a transformative gift from Dr. Stephen Riady, a longstanding supporter and honorary alumnus. His generous contribution revolutionised the university's 400-seat Business School lecture theatre, making it Scotland's most technologically advanced. Beyond benefiting local students, this upgrade connects international learners to an immersive and innovative educational experience. The refurbishment of the Dr. Stephen Riady Lecture Theatre is the first phase in a broader development plan for the Craiglockhart campus.

Trimble Partnership Shaping the Net Zero Future

Our world-leading applied research in sustainable construction, industrialised timber, and offsite construction solutions led to our long-standing relationship with Trimble. Recognising the continuing impact we could make together, Trimble partnered with us to launch the first UL Trimble Technology Lab (TTL) in 2019. By gifting equipment and software to establish state-of-the-art technology labs for architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC), Trimble is enabling us to cultivate highly trained graduates and to make a significant contribution to the net zero transition agenda.

In 2022, Trimble's on-going support allowed the expansion of our TTL facilities to include a suite of rooms at Merchiston Campus. More recently, Trimble has pledged a further £10.9 million of in-kind support for the next five years, which will allow more students to access the latest tools and digitally empower our innovation for the built environment in new and exciting ways.
