Blair MunnWhat did you want to be when you were younger?

“I wanted to be a professional football player. This is all I thought about growing up.”

Can you describe your career journey?

“My football career included Rangers youth, Falkirk youth, and Scotland national youth teams. I then moved on to Alloa and Stirling Albion before stopping playing.

“My coaching career includes Falkirk academy, Rangers academy and Scottish FA performance schools. I've been a first team coach at Boness, Darvel and now East Kilbride.

"I also have my own coaching academy called Pro Performance Academy which I have had for 8 years now.”

Tell us more about Pro Performance Academy!

Pro Performance Academy is an academy I started 8 years ago with my 2 best mates: Callum Tapping and Robbie Thomson. The academy works with players from beginners to professional, both in the male and female game. The growth of the academy has been excellent, but we still have lots to go. We offer small group and team style training sessions, mentoring and consultation work.”

You studied at Edinburgh Napier between 2021 and 2022. What was the experience like?

“My experience was really good. My lecturer, Stephen Robertson, was great, and I loved my time studying.”

What has been the biggest highlight of your career? Have you had to overcome any challenges?

“I think you always have to overcome challenges. For me as you get older you need to make tough choices, some you get right and some you get wrong. My biggest achievement so far would be the growth of my academy and the people I meet and work with.

“Also, the result last season with Darvel beating Aberdeen was a massive occasion and one I'll never forget.”

What motivates you?

"Developing, growing and improving motivates me. I also like to surround myself with good like-minded people who challenge me."
