Why did you apply through Clearing?

Originally, I was unsure of what degree I wanted to pursue after school. The more I discussed my decision with my peers, the more I realised that marketing was what I wanted to do.

Unfortunately, I had already submitted my UCAS application by this point, so I decided to apply through Clearing instead.

How did you find the experience on results day?

Personally, I found results day very nerve-racking as it was the first year my results were not fully reflective of all my hard work.

However, the team at Edinburgh Napier answered all my Clearing questions when I phoned up, which really helped put me at ease and gave me the confidence to follow through with applying.

What drew you to Edinburgh Napier?

One aspect that really attracted me to Edinburgh Napier was the sense of community. Looking at the University’s social media, societies and clubs while I was applying, the main thing that drew me in was the welcoming and inclusive feel.

From the bowling and pizza nights that I saw on the student accommodation Instagram, to the wide variety of student social groups, I think it’s safe to say everyone’s interests are well catered for.

Did moving into student accommodation impact anything for you?

I feel it helped me submerge into the university lifestyle easier. At first, moving into a flat with people you have never met before sounds very daunting. However, within the first week it was like we had all known each other for a lifetime.

Looking at us all on paper, we probably would have never talked to each other without living together. In reality, we embrace each other’s differences and I definitely think moving into accommodation was one of the best decisions I’ve made.

Has the course lived up to expectations?

Yes! It definitely has. Though it can be difficult at times, the lecturers are always there to help. Some even offer one-to-one tutoring, which is really useful. Their enthusiasm really helped to motivate me during lockdown.

What advice do you have for anyone applying through Clearing?

My main piece of advice for people considering Clearing this year is to remain calm and call Edinburgh Napier in advance if you have any questions. It really helps ease such a nerve-racking time!
