Meet Suzy Wilson, graduate of the MA Writing Genre Fiction Online course here at Edinburgh Napier.

I completed my online MA in Writing Genre Fiction in the Summer of 2025 and can thoroughly recommend the course. The support and tutoring are excellent and far exceeded my expectations for online study.

I found the course content and structure stimulating, relevant, highly enjoyable and easy to tailor around my busy working life. The live sessions were brilliant and the feedback positive and helpful. Yet if for any reason I couldn’t make it to the live tutorials, it was all recorded and stored for us to look at again and again at our own convenience.

The standard of the mentorship was fabulous too, guiding me onwards with my major project in a positive stimulating way. Thanks to my mentors encouragement and advice I was able to finish my entire novel before the course had ended and now have completed my third edit and am around 16000 words into novel number two.

The MA not only helps you develop your writing skills and establish good practice but also gives practical advice and support in how to start a fledgling career with advice from agents, publishers and book sellers. Towards the end of the course all students are given the opportunity to pitch their novel to an industry panel of professionals, receiving feedback on their query letters, elevator pitch and more importantly on their 10,000-word submission.

I cannot impress upon you more the outstanding nature of this course, which in my opinion is good value for money considering the high standard of tuition and support I received.
