Routes are offered across all fields of nursing practice, and there are core modules in leadership, advanced decision-making, work-based learning and research approaches. Specialist modules are offered in the following:

What you’ll study

Our flexible learning approach allows you to take one module or work toward a post graduate certificate, Diploma or Master’s degree. A typical route through the programme is as follows: 

Year 1 

  • Leadership for innovation and practice 
  • Advanced decision making 
  • Work-based learning 

After sucessfully completing Year 1 you will be awarded a PG certificate Advanced Practice  (named speciality)

Year 2 
  • Research approaches in health and social care 
  • Two Option modules 

 After sucessfully completing Year 2 you will be awarded a PG Diploma Advanced Practice  (named speciality)

Year 3 

  • Dissertation

After sucessfully completing your dissertation in Year 3  you will be awarded an MSc Advanced Practice (named speciality)

How you'll study

The course is online and can be studied at a time and place that suits you. It is delivered by lecturers with specialist skills in the modules offered. We’ll keep in close contact with you and you will always be able to contact members of the module team for guidance and support throughout your studies. You will have the opportunity to share and discuss your experience and learning with other students from a range of professional backgrounds and geographical locations using our teleconference facilities, online learning environments, email and telephones.

You will be assessed by essay, report and a final dissertation project focusing on your speciality area. All the work based elements of the programme will be in your workplace

Studying one-module per trimester as a distance learning student, you can achieve an MSc in three years.
