Biography

Abdy Kermani is Professor of Timber Engineering and Head of Centre for Timber Engineering at Edinburgh Napier University. He is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Structural Engineers, with over 30 years’ experience in civil and structural engineering research, teaching and practice. He has served on the organising committees and editorial technical advisory boards of national and international research councils, journals and conferences on structural and timber engineering and the innovative use of construction materials. He is the appointed principal consultant to several UK and European structural and timber engineering firms and manufacturing industries. Professor Kermani is the recipient of a stream of national and international awards for his research, development and design work. His research in structural timber engineering is internationally recognised and published widely.
