Dr Anna Schneider RF

Research Fellow

I currently work with Dr. Iain Atherton on a project looking at factors associated with the trends in end of life care and place of death, using linked administrative data, including the Scottish census from 2001 and 2011. I also am preparing results from my PhD research on changing social participation in later life in Germany for publication, and I am in the late stages of a research project with Dr. Mor Kandlik Eltanani from ISD Scotland on Place of Death of people dying of cancer in Scotland.

Previously, I completed my first degree in Sociology at the Technical University of Dresden, Germany, and worked as independent researcher for the German Red Cross before studying for a PhD in Sociology at the University of Edinburgh. While doing so, I also gained four years of research and teaching experience working as research assistant, lecturer, tutor, and senior tutor in Sociology, Social Policy, and Social Anthropology.
