Biography
Elizabeth is a writer, artist and folklorist whose work explores fairy tales, horror and interactive storytelling. She is the creator of immersive theatre installations Big Teeth (2017-18), The Sandman (2019-20) and Fairy Light (2022-23), the editor of weird fiction collections Into the London Fog (British Library, 2020) and Fearsome Fairies (British Library, 2021), and a regular contributor to the Times Literary Supplement and folklore zines Hellebore and Cunning Folk.
Elizabeth holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge and was awarded a practice-based Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship at University College London exploring the evolution of Red Riding Hood. Before joining Edinburgh Napier in 2023, she taught at the University of London, the Freud Museum London, UCL and the University of Cambridge, and has led workshops at universities, festivals and cultural organisations around the world.
Her genre specialisms and academic interests include fairy tales, horror, the Gothic and the uncanny, multimedia and immersive storytelling, narratives of place in public spaces, and the role of public engagement and creative practice in methodology and teaching.
