Dr Fiona Maclean

Associate Professor

Biography

Fiona is an Associate Professor of Occupational Therapy at Edinburgh Napier University and is a full member of the Centre for Person-centred Practice Research (CPcPR) with Queen Margaret University. She is an HCPC registered occupational therapist, previously working in practice with older people across health and social care.

With extensive experience of educational leadership, including the design, delivery and evaluation of pre and post registration occupational therapy learning and teaching, Fiona has also worked as an Allied Health Professional (AHP) Project Lead with Alzheimer Scotland. She has led the development of a range of innovative educational approaches designed to advance the contribution of the AHPs with people living with dementia, their families and supporters.

Fiona is an active researcher exploring drinking alcohol as an occupation in later life and publishes in peer reviewed journals and presents at national and international conferences. She has recently co-edited a textbook in occupational therapy and dementia, and continues to contribute widely to professional education with a range of national and international universities.
