Dr Jill Sutherland

External Project Officer

Biography

Jill is part of a team of External Project Officers (EPOs) based within RIE, who provide post-award administrative support for externally-funded research and commercial activities within the University. She focuses on projects in the areas of the Built Environment and Engineering & Mathematics within SCEBE.

The EPO Team ensures that all claims are submitted to funders and invoices issued to receive project income in a timely manner. They also provide guidance to project leads based on funders T&Cs, e.g. what costs are allowed, what changes can be made etc. EPOs can also provide spend reports to help keep you up-to-date with how much budget is remaining, and to ensure that your project fully achieves the desired outcomes.

Researchers from Built Environment and Engineering & Mathematics areas can get in touch with Jill for any queries regarding their externally-funded project budgets and financial reporting.

Jill received her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience in 2014 and her PhD in Tissue Repair in 2019, both from the University of Edinburgh. She then went on to work in the trial management team for the MND-SMART clinical trial, where she was involved in all aspects of project management for an externally-funded multi-site clinical research project, before joining ENU as an EPO in June 2021.
