Biography

Dr. Jubaer Ahmed is currently working as a lecturer (Assistant Prof.) in School of Engineering and Built Environment, Edinburgh Napier University, UK. He obtained his PhD in Electrical Engineering from University of Technology, Malaysia (UTM) in 2016 and BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 2012.

From 2016-2021, he worked in Swinburne University of Technology (Sarawak Campus) as a Senior Lecturer and was the program leader for Electrical & Electronic Engineering in 2019-2020. He successfully led the program for accreditation exercise in 2019 under Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) Malaysia and enhanced lab facilities for Electrical Power System. He also served the faculty and the University as the Research Education Advisor, member of Faculty research committee, Staff Recreation Committee (SRC), Student progress review committee & IEEE R-10 subcommittee.

In research, he has developed expertise in Photovoltaic (PV) System design that includes designing MPPT control algorithms for PV operation, PV module connection scheme, PV integration to the grids and optimize energy efficiency. He carried out about 15 research projects which contributed to develop control algorithms for PV DC-DC converter, mathematical models for PV operation, PV module connection schemes and other innovation in peripheral fields. These contributions were published in over 60 International journals and conferences including prestigious IEEE Transactions. According to Google scholar, his articles are cited over 2000 times and his current h-index is 17. He has received the best paper award from Applied Energy Journal in 2018. He was also featured among the top 2% research scientist in the world, ranking published by Stanford University in 2020-2023.

Dr Jubaer is a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) and APEC IntPE under Engineers Australia. He is also a member of IEEE, IET and BEM.
