Biography
I completed my BSc (Hons) and graduated in Spain at the University of Seville. I finished my degree by completing a placement in a primary care center where I had the opportunity to manage my own caseload and assess women who suffered from chronic pain. I carried out clinical group sessions following a psychological program based on CBT. This experience led me to apply and get a highly recognized MSc in General Health Psychology which was established as mandatory in Spain for those seeking to pursue a career in clinical psychology. The experience from this MSc made me fall in love even more with the profession as I learned different clinical techniques to work with people in different psychology areas. Furthermore, I had the chance to do six different placements in different clinical psychology roles and departments, from neuropsychology to counselling, from hospitals to residential settings, and private practices.
Seeking to develop my career further, I took the life-changing decision to move to the UK in 2016, and this gave me the chance to learn the language while working in the health care sector. During my time here, I worked as a support worker supporting people with learning difficulties, as a rehabilitation support worker in a hospital setting within a clinical multidisciplinary team supporting people with acquired brain injury, and as a residential childcare worker helping children with learning difficulties and/or autism to become independent and to understand/manage their own emotions.
I pursued and achieved another MSc by Research in Integrative Neuroscience which was a particular interest of mine, and which also granted me further research skills. After this, I started my role as a university tutor working for Edinburgh Napier University, and now I seek to do further research in the field of mental health, particularly, understanding further university students' mental health - this is the reason why I have recently started a PhD course at Napier.
