Tackling Gender Inequality from the Classroom to the Boardroom Workshop

Start date and time

Tuesday 10 May 2016

Location

10am-1pm, Edinburgh Napier University, Sighthill Campus

Tackling gender inequality and enhancing opportunities in the labour market continues to be a priority for the Scottish Government. However, gender stereotyping in school and post-school education remains a problem, and gender segregation in the labour market limits the occupational pathways open to individuals.

This workshop will hear from a range of speakers about the approaches being adopted to tackle gender inequality from the classroom to the boardroom in Scotland. It will give insights as to which approaches work best and why in terms of achieving sustained change in relation to gender imbalance. These discussions will be underpinned by research on gender imbalances in education and a range of key sectors in the economy, which has been undertaken by researchers at the Employment Research Institute at Edinburgh Napier University

This workshop will be of interest to: those working in schools, colleges and universities; HR professionals; equality and diversity professionals; those working in STEM areas, as well as other industries where there are gender imbalances; and those with an interest in attracting more women to their workforce.
