Basil's keynote is drawn from his personal experience as an Expert Witness in Digital Evidence & Cyber Crime.
His presentation was about what happens to digital evidence after Police has reported it to Prosecutors. Basil argued that the lack of training and understanding from the prosecution's side, while there is a visible improvement on the police front, accounts for the poor conviction rates. This is especially recognisable in CSAM cases.
Basil has attended the event in order to create new relationships for the Cyber Academy and capitalised in his personal relationship with INTERPOL over the last few years as an Subject Matter Expert, to confirm that the DFEG2024 gathering will be hosted by The Cyber Academy / SCEBE at Napier.
