Message from the Edinburgh Institute Director to Associates

Two months into my new role as Director of the Edinburgh Institute and I wanted to thank those of you who have been in touch to wish me well and offer advice on how we can develop more business together.  My previous role as Managing Director of a Chamber of Commerce taught me that successful networks thrive on a clear understanding of the contribution everyone can make to common objectives - and I want to bring clarity to the way in which the EI and its Associates work together. In that respect, I’ll be reviewing the EI’s mission and objectives, publishing a three-year Strategy and Business Plan in April, 2013.  We’ll be consulting widely on the strategy and I shall ensure that you have the opportunity to make a contribution, should you wish.  Part of this piece of work will involve reviewing the Associate network with the intention of clarifying our understanding with you and agreeing how we can develop a ‘win/win’ relationship, which delivers value to all parties.  I shall be convening a meeting in the new year to discuss options- but in the meantime would welcome your advice.  Just drop me a line at g.birse@napier.ac.uk May I also wish you and your families a Happy Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.
