Recognising Scotland’s strengths – as a destination for the tech industry, excellent universities, history of innovation, resources and size – the Data Delivery Group's priority project for 2019 is to develop an Artificial Intelligence (AI) strategy for Scotland. This will help to ensure that Scotland realises its potential and thrives as a global exemplar in the innovation, application and deployment of AI and other data technologies.

The aim is to develop an AI strategy that has improved citizen wellbeing, and opportunities for all to flourish through sustainable and inclusive economic growth, as its core guiding principles. The intent is for the strategy to set out ambitions, principles, priority actions and a route to securing public support for taking these forward.

Prof. Hart has been invited to join the AI strategy development steering group, which is chaired by Kate Forbes MSP, Minister for Public Finance and Digital Economy.
