TRI working in collaboration with Dutch consultancy Inno-V have been appointed by the UK’s Urban Transport Group – which represents public bodies responsible for coordinating public transport in Britain’s major cities outside London – to review and report on the experience of local transport regulation and contracting in Denmark, Norway and Sweden.  The work will help to inform important developments in regulation and franchising in Britain, especially England.  Project coordinator Professor Tom Rye commented “As England’s regions move towards a new regulatory situation for buses and local rail as a result of the Buses Bill and possible devolution of powers over regional rail, learning from the experience of Scandinavian countries, which have been pioneers in this area, is extremely valuable.  TRI’s knowledge of the Swedish market and Inno-V’s prior work in Norway and Denmark has helped us to win this important piece of work.”
