Developing a Notation Standard for Hybrid Drum Kit and Percussion Controllers
Since the late 1970s drummers have had the option to integrate drum kit technologies into their performance setup. Although we have had these technologies for over 40 years, there still remains no standard way of notating performances for either hybrid or fully electronic drum kit performances. These technologies are now becoming a standard part of the drummers arsenal, where more often drummers have to use technologies in live settings to replicate studio recordings. Therefore, there is a need to standardise the way we notate performances to enable them to be replicated by other players. This poster proposes a way of notating a hybrid or fully electronic performance that works effectively for electronic drum and percussion equipment produced by different manufacturers.
