Lateral Torsional Buckling
  Lateral torsional instability occurs when a beam’s compression face is not fully restrained against lateral movement and its relative slenderness is high. The beam may fail by deflecting sideways and twisting about its longitudinal axis; this failure mode is called lateral torsional buckling.
