Remote Acoustic Soundscape evaluation using Ambisonic recordings
The Acoustic Soundscape ISO standard has been used in previous work to assess the soundscape during soundwalks. This approach has different results and contributions to the field. However, there are several challenges to this approach, such as logistics and cost. These issues, together with the environmental impact, is greatly amplified if we want to realise a large-scale study. In this pilot study, we consider the potential of the Acoustic Soundscape ISO guidelines for assessing a recorded soundscape remotely. We realised a series of 3rd order Ambisonic Soundscape recordings and then ran an evaluation of these recordings, adapting the Acoustic Soundscape ISO standard to a remote listening evaluation study. In this presentation, we will present our approach and results from a first pilot study.
